Whether you’re a mage who casts fireballs or a warrior that swings their sword valiantly, this list of the most overpowered weapons in WOTLK Classic is for you. This list will cover the strongest and most iconic weapons WOTLK Classic offers and how to obtain them.

Before we get into the list of 5 best WotLK Classic weapons, we must first say that these weapons may receive buffs or nerfs throughout the WOTLK Classic experience and may change; this list is our personal view for the Most Overpowered weapons and may differ from other communities. With that out the way, let’s get onto the list!

Starting this list with one of the most powerful weapons for Death Knight is Bryntroll, the Bone Arbiter. As discussed in our previous article, this item is one of the most iconic weapons for Death Knight, Warrior, and Paladin as it is one of the only weapons to provide life steal.

Death Knights may also receive healing from their diseases from this weapon, which provides some of the most healing for a Death Knight. Fury Warriors can equip two of these and have some of the craziest healing in PvP and PvE with their AoE attacks. This weapon is one of the strongest PvP weapons on this list, securing it a position as number 5.

Healers, this is your most overpowered weapon during WOTLK Classic. This Hammer provides a unique effect on Equip as all heals have a chance to give a shield to the target upwards of 15% of healing done. The effect also can proc from discipline priests healing off their shields, giving an even bigger shield.

As a healer main, prepare to have to fight your way from all other healers as this is one of the strongest and most iconic healer maces in the expansion.

To obtain Val’anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings, you must collect 30 fragments of Val’anyr from the Uldum raid bosses. Easier said than done, as you will need to kill them multiple times to gain all 30 fragments, provided other raid members don’t snipe them away. Once you’ve gotten all 30 fragments, you must assemble the fragments into “Shattered Fragments of Val'anyr,” which will start the quest “Ancient History.” For this quest, you must transport the fragments to the archivum (back of the Iron Council room) in Ulduar.

At the archivum, the player will receive the quest “Val'anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings,” where they must throw the Unbound Fragments of Val'anyr into Yogg-Saron's mouth while he is casting “Deafening Roar” during phase 3 when 0-3 titan keepers are active. Defeat Yogg-Saron, loot the item off his corpse, and accept the next quest. Once completed, you will receive Val’anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings, along with the Title “Val'anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings.”

A lot of things to do for this one, but it is nonetheless the most overpowered healing item in the game.

The final boss of ICC 25 man, The Lich King, drops this amazing stat sword. Glorenzelg, High-Blade of the Silver Hand, has some of the most stats and is an extremely powerful complementation sword for the Fury Warriors. There isn’t much to say other than this sword provides huge stat bonuses, three red sockets, and a socket bonus. Most Warriors, Paladins, and Death Knights will be fighting over this sword, so if you want it, make sure you save up your GDKP for it or hope the odds are in your favor when rolling for it.

Glorenzelg, High-Blade of the Silver Hand, is a 25-man raid reward item from the Lich King.

The Battered Hilt is an item obtained from standard mobs throughout Pit of Saron, Forge of Souls, or Halls of Reflection. The Battered Hilt Questline is one of the longest questlines in the WOTLK Classic, so we recommend getting a friend to do it alongside you.

We all knew this was coming; at number 1, we have Shadowmourne, the most powerful Two-Handed Axe in the game. Shadowmourne is a legendary axe with incredibly high stats and DPS, but again just like with the others, it’s the Equipped item effect that makes it strong; “Your melee attacks have a chance to drain a Soul Fragment granting you 30 Strength.

When you have Acquired 10 Soul Fragments, you will unleash Chaos Bane, dealing 1900 to 2100 Shadow Damage split between all enemies within 15 yards and granting you 270 Strength for 10 seconds.” If that doesn’t sound overpowered to you, then nothing in WOTLK Classic will; this weapon increases damage while fighting and does an AoE explosion in those long fights. Shadowmourne is a must for all melee classes.
